Every year I walk outside of my building to find a huge festival in full-swing. Starting early in the morning, thousands of people party like there is no tomorrow (and somehow manage to do this without alcohol sales). I welcome you to join me next year and walk around this place.
Here are some sights and sounds for your enjoyment (you know I did!).
See, I told you, right outside of my house on Grays Ferry Avenue in Philly.
You can buy just about anything here.
With lost of color, all over the place. Dang, I should have bought that shirt!
Police presence is quite prominent here—I feel very secure, even with thousands of people all over the place and yesterday’s shooting at Pulse nightclub.
Awesome drum circle! Did you check out my video to hear all the amazing sounds?
and the over-tired babies
and the over-excited babies
and the street dancers
and the paramedics, all over the place
and the artsy stuff
and the colors
and the drinks with friends at the local pub, right on South street
and the colors!!
and my fellow camera people
and THE HAT ladies
and the local foods [whoops… I don’t eat anything fried so I stopped in for some sushi]
and the rose-kids
and the red-kids
and the butters
and the giraffes…
and more art
and the pies
and the awes0mely-priced jewels
and more hats
and more faces
and more kitties
and more people
and all the fried goods
and the snakes
and more people
and the drummers
and the I-forgot-what-that-thing-is-called
and the performers
and the jewels
and the drummers, again
and some leftovers
—all the amazing things you’ll find at next year’s Odunde festival. Hope to see you there.
